  • Sarah McKenzie, LMHC – Sarah McKenzie is  Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from Cambridge College. I also hold a B.A. in Psychology from St. Michael’s College.I have over 10 years of experience in the mental health field, working with a wide variety of the population, from adolescents to geriatrics. My specialties include treating individuals, couples and families affected by substance abuse, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, self harm, and stress management. I also work with those who are suffering from multiple issues (duel diagnosis) and chronic mental illness. I have extensive experience working with young women on social and self esteem issues. My approach will vary with each client depending on their needs. Some clients will benefit from an interactive approach such as CBT, workbooks and homework. Others appreciate a more Rogerian (or client centered) approach. I believe in working together to find what will benefit you the most and making the most of our time together.

If I am truly open to the way life is experienced by another person… if I can take his or her world into mine, then I risk seeing life in his or her way… and of being changed myself, and we all resist change. Since we all resist change, we tend to view the other person’s world only in our terms, not in his or hers. Then we analyze and evaluate it.  We do not understand their world. But, when the therapist does understand how it truly feels to be in another person’s world, without wanting or trying to analyze or judge it, then the therapist and the client can truly blossom and grow in that climate.” Carl Rogers
